Chemistry engraving – chemical composition of water

Why make it simple when complicated is funnier?-This contraption was meant to prove the exact chemical composition of water. In the two bottles on the left hydrogen was produced by oxidizing the zinc bits on the bottom of bottle A; no mention of bottle B or its function in the text (decoration? filter?); the three U-shaped pipes filtered and exiccated the hydrogen that was then run over hot copper oxide in the balloon F, and the resulting water was collected in the flask G. The last U-pipe would then collect any possible escaped water vapour. Every single part of the device was accurately weighted before and after the experiment and if no error crept in a few simple calculation proved that water is exactly H2O.
