Optical spectrometer or spectroscope is an instrument used in spectroscopy for producing spectral lines and measuring their wavelengths and intensities. Joseph von Fraunhofer developed the first modern spectroscope, Gustav Robert Kirchhoff and Robert Bunsen discovered the application of spectroscopes to chemical analysis.
